CSA Portal

UPS Supply Chain Solutions understands the need for businesses to remain compliant and competitive in today's marketplace. Our Customs Self Assessment (CSA) Portal enables all approved businesses to participate in CSA and take advantage of streamlined clearance, accounting and payment processes for their imported goods.

The CSA program gives approved importers and carriers a streamlined clearance option for CSA eligible goods. The clearance process will be based on the identification of the approved importer, approved carrier and the registered driver.

Under this program, authorized low risk importers will benefit from a streamlined accounting and payment process. This process will be generated from the approved importers' own business systems and will enable self assessment and the ability to meet Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) obligations. To this effect, CBSA will require an extensive risk assessment audit of the importers' internal systems, which also includes pre-screening of all transmitted information.

UPS Supply Chain Solutions CSA Portal application complements the importers' existing business systems with a "cradle to grave" monitoring process that includes all necessary audit trails. With our CSA Portal, data is gathered through a company's internal receiving, purchasing and accounting systems. This eliminates the need to rely on the traditional method of gathering import data from the exporters/vendors and carriers' shipping documents. Our Portal links all information gathered by different departments and electronically reviews it to ensure all necessary reporting data is captured. Once all data is captured, our system will transmit this information to Customs.

Compliance must be maintained in all aspects of data transmission and retention; a reliable system is critical. This is why our CSA Portal also contains back-up tools, contingency plans and red flags that alert companies of discrepancies before any transmission to CBSA.

Under CSA, the importers' internal business systems must be capable of reporting any new information related to all imported goods received. To this effect, our CSA Portal has the ability to create and submit B3X files.

The CSA Portal also handles the Revenue Summary Form (RSF) monthly accounting and all other reporting functions necessary for each industry.

Electronic communication of information should remain simple, flexible and secure. Owned and operated by UPS Supply Chain Solutions, UPS CSA Portal can be adapted to and used in a large range of industries, including the Electronic, Aerospace and Pharmaceutical, regardless of their size or volumes, while continuing to meet the requirements of all administrative environments.

Our comprehensive CSA Web Portal solution together with our experienced professionals will help importers gain the knowledge, reliability and compliance required by CBSA to quickly and efficiently gain and maintain CSA status.

By becoming a CSA approved importer, you benefit from:

  • Expediting and streamlining the Canadian clearance process
  • A greater control and visibility of customs reporting, accounting, adjustment, payment and compliance
  • The elimination of ACI requirements for U.S. goods imported into Canada
  • Effectively managing CBSA obligations
  • CBSA support in compliance issues
  • Reduced exposure to monetary penalties - Administrative Monetary Penalty System (AMPS) exposure - and a low risk score in CBSA's targeting system
  • Dedicated lanes for Free & Secure Trade (FAST) clearance
  • Prioritized shipments even under a red level security alert
  • Reduced manual reporting requirements and paperwork
  • Extended timelines to report goods, thus increasing cash flow
  • Potential refunds and drawbacks which are reported as a credit and may be deducted from amounts owing on the monthly report
  • Electronic adjustments of the invoice/entry details, allowing for more immediate CBSA decisions.

Efficiency is a must; CBSA requires a 99.5% compliance rate that must be maintained when reporting all importations. In addition, non-compliance with government regulations can bring penalties, delayed shipments and, possibly, the loss of a "low risk" status. UPS Supply Chain Solutions CSA Portal provides a fully managed system that ensures accurate declaration content.
